Swoyambhunath is one of the most popular attractions in Nepal. It is located almost 3 km, west of Kathmandu City. The temple grounds are inhabited by monkeys and from here; there are spectacular views of Kathmandu and the valley below.
Durbar in Nepali means “Palace” and in Kathmandu and Patan as well as Bhaktapur, there are Durbar Squares in front of the old palaces.
Around the central Durbar Square are the old Royal Palace (Hanuman Dhoka), a number of interesting pagodas and Indian-style temples (Sikhara), the House of Kumari (the living Goddess), and the Kasthamandap (or wooden house which is the origin of the word Kathmandu) and many more things to see and do.
Patan is one of the major cities in Kathmandu Valley and is the oldest of the three state-ruled. You can visit Patan to have a look and study many beautiful and interesting arts and architecture and historic and cultural phenomena.
The city of Bhaktapur is just 14 km east of Kathmandu. Bhaktapur means the city of devotees and is a center of potters and intriguing masks.

Day 01: Kathmandu City Tour with Guide

Detailed Itinerary of Kathmandu City Tour
9:00 A.M:  Pickup from your Hotel and Drive to Swoyambhunath Temple
The Kathmandu City Tour kicks off after an early morning breakfast. Our crew member i.e. tour leader/guide picks you up from your hotels. And, then we drive to one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Swoyambhunath Temple (The Monkey Temple).

The distance between your hotel (Thamel) to Swoyambhunath is 4 km. And takes 14 minutes to reach the base of Swayambhunath Temple hillock. This Buddhist Stupa is one of the oldest stupas in Nepal. Here, you can experience the ancient, religious, and spiritual vibes omitted from this divine temple. For an hour we stay here for exploring, praying, photography, etc.
And, from the temple of Swoyambhunath, we drive to Patan Durbar Square.

10:30 A.M: Drive from Swoyambhunath Temple to Patan Durbar Square
Our Next Stop is one of the oldest palaces of the Nepalese Monarchy i.e. Patan Durbar Square. Also, included in UNESCO World Heritage Sites along with other Durbar Squares of Kathmandu valley.

Via Museum Marg, the total distance from Swoyambhunath Temple to Patan Durbar Square (Lalitpur) is 8.1 km. And it takes 30 minutes to reach if no traffic jams on the way. This historical site is full of ancient temples, statues, buildings, artifacts, etc. Also, can experience the ancient vibes of this region.

After exploring this historical site, we head towards the sacred Shiva Temple of Pashupatinath.

12:00 P.M:  Drive from Patan Durbar Square to Pashupatinath Temple
Then we drive to Pashupatinath temple. About 7.7 km north of Patan Durbar Square lies the famous Hindu temple of Pashupatinath. Takes 25 minutes to reach the holy place which is also listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1979.

The entire area of Pashupatinath Temple incorporates numerous temples, Shiva lingams, ashrams, centuries-old statues, sculptures, inscriptions, etc. The main temple lies near the Bagmati River which is an excellent example of ancient Nepalese Architecture skills.

You can explore, worship, and interact with local gurus and sadhus. Pashupatinath temple is a place where you can encounter the birth and death life cycles of humans.
From here, we move towards the largest Buddhist Stupa in Nepal, Boudhanath Stupa.

13:30 P.M:  Drive to Boudhanath Stupa from Pashupatinath Temple
Following the Tusal Marg from Pashupatinath Temple, we arrive at the Largest Stupa in Nepal i.e. Boudhanath Stupa. Here, you can explore the 118ft tall stupa, nearby gumbas, and local antique/artifacts shops. You can enjoy magnificent views of Boudhanath Stupa from rooftop cafes. Also, feel the Buddhist chantings coming from the monastery, which is enough to make your mind and soul peaceful and relaxed. After an hour of Boudhanath sightseeing, we head back to your hotel (Thamel).

14:30 P.M:  Drive back to your Hotel
From Boudhanath Stupa, our crew member will guide you to your hotel which is the ending spot for the Kathmandu City Tour.
